Privacy policy

This privacy policy applies to SonaWise (the "App"), provided by 1699 Ltd., a company registered in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (company number 11834362) ("we", "us", "our"). It explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Data we collect

When you use the App we collect:

• Email address — to create your account and sign you in.
• Display name — only if you set one in your profile.
• Photos — that you choose to upload of your jewellery items.
• Item details — purchase price, weight, purity, dates, and notes you record about each item.
• Preferences — currency, weight unit, motion settings.

We don't collect:

• Your location.
• Your contacts or address book.
• Advertising identifiers.
• Marketing or behavioural tracking data.

How we use your data

We use this data to:

• Provide the core service: storing your collection and showing you what it's worth.
• Sign you in securely.
• Diagnose crashes and bugs (see "Sub-processors" below).
• Comply with legal obligations once paid features are introduced (e.g. retaining tax/payment records).

Our lawful basis under UK and EU GDPR:

• Contract performance for storing and displaying your collection — we can't deliver the service you signed up for without this data.
• Legitimate interest for crash diagnostics — to keep the App stable for everyone.
• Legal obligation for retaining payment records once paid features are introduced.

We don't sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. Our sub-processors are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own AI training.

Sub-processors

To operate the App we use the following service providers, who process your data on our behalf:

• Supabase — hosts the database, authentication, and uploaded photos. Data is stored in the European Union.
• Sentry — receives crash reports and error details. May include your account ID, email, and device information. Sentry is US-based; we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for the international transfer.
• Apple App Store / Google Play — process payments for any paid features. We never see your card details — Apple and Google handle billing and only share transaction confirmations with us.

We don't share your data with any other third parties.

How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (Settings → Delete account), we permanently remove your data within 30 days.

Backups that contain residual copies of your data are rotated out within 30 days of deletion.

Where the law requires us to retain specific records for longer — for example, payment and tax records under UK accounting law — we keep only those records, for only as long as the law requires (typically up to 6 years).

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you.
• Correct anything that's wrong.
• Delete your account and all your data.
• Restrict how we process your data.
• Export your data in a portable format.
• Object to our processing in certain cases.

You can exercise the export and delete rights directly in the App: go to Settings → Export collection for a CSV of your items, or Settings → Delete account to remove everything.

For other requests, email privacy@sonawise.app and we'll respond within one month.

California residents: we don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

If you live in the UK, EU, or California, you can also complain to your local supervisory authority:

Children

The App is for people aged 16 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you're a parent or guardian and you think a child under 16 has signed up, contact us at privacy@sonawise.app and we'll delete the account.

Cookies and tracking

The App doesn't use cookies, advertising trackers, or behavioural analytics.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we'll notify you in the App before they take effect. The version number and last-updated date at the bottom of this page show when it was last revised.
